I previously worked as a swim instructor for ages 5-12 one summer. I have been nannying for about a year and previously worked at a daycare for a year. Additionally, I have also volunteered for DFPS while in school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing simple, creative activities with kids, like building forts out of pillows, doing art projects with paints or markers, or going on nature walks to explore and collect leaves or rocks. Baking together is always a hit too, especially when they get to help mix or decorate. I also enjoy reading books aloud and making up silly voices for the characters, and sometimes we even create our own little plays or skits! The best part is watching their imaginations run wild.

The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, loving space where a child feels valued and understood. It's about building trust and being there for them, every step of the way.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments with a little girl I nanny was when we were walking through the park and she spotted a ladybug on a leaf. She was entranced by this ladybug and started talking to it like it was her little friend. We ended up following it around for a while, and she kept asking if it was “lost” or “going home.” It was one of those moments where you just see how much wonder kids find in the smallest things. Before we left, she gently moved it to a new leaf, telling it to “have a good day.” It was such a sweet little connection with nature.
