My name is Amari. I have a background of being a caregiver and a behavior technician for toddlers with autism. I did some college and currently am seeking for a nanny job because I genuinely enjoy working with children and infants. I am enthusiastic about learning new things, compassionate, and patient. I am a natural leader with a bubbly, friendly and outgoing personality, committed to fostering positive experiences and exceeding expectations. My personal experience with children are in my own household as well. I am the oldest of 6 children, the youngest being 5 years old.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve done volunteer work & worked at a daycare and summer camp throughout high school. I’m currently working at Aishes Chiyal in Monroe NY as an infant caregiver having 9 babies to take care of through my 8 hour shift.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some outdoor activities I love doing with children are enjoying nature, going to the park, & blowing bubbles. A couple indoor activities I enjoy with children are coloring and reading books & arts and crafts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’d say the most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe space/environment both physically and emotionally is top priority. Ensuring that the children are and feel safe and secure enables them to explore & learn confidently. The second close to safety is adaptability. No two days will look the same when it comes to children. I think that’s what I like most about working with them. Being adaptable and flexible allows me to respond effectively to the needs of the family and child. Next to these two I’d say are communication, making a positive impact in the lives of others and having trust and being counted as trustworthy

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children started in my family with a family friend. With her being just a few years younger, we used simple communication skills like non verbal cues and simple language. To engage her interest with us we did activities she liked, for example, watching movies and singing together. I also recently was a behavior technician for kiddos with autism in Connecticut before moving to New York which I enjoyed. My client was two years old and I worked for the company “Inbloom Autism Center”. My experience with working with her was amazing. My favorite part was seeing her progress with communication. Her communication style was through visual aids, non-verbal cues, simple sign language and language. The most challenging experiences were managing behaviors by recognizing triggers & implementing calm strategies. Collaboration with parent/caregiver in care and support was was essential.
