A little bit about me

Hey y'all! My name is Amber, and I am a 26 year old mother of four (2 boys, 2 stepgirls). My family and I are in need of extra funds, so I am hoping to find some work taking care of someone else's kids while our children aren't here (Tuesday-Friday). No other occupation feels right or natural to me as I already take care of my own children. I am a kind, quiet, patient, compassionate mother who loves to make kids laugh and help out families where I can with housework or food prep. I also grew up with a nonverbal low functioning Autistic sister and most of my life I was my sister's closest caregiver understanding her special way to communicate. I am very open and prepared to work with special needs kids, though I am not medically trained or certified. Just pure mom experience. I hope to be able to find a match with one of you wonderful families. I am also an animal lover and am not averse to fur babies.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I just grew up taking care of family as there were many cousins and siblings, my closest being my little sister who is nonverbal Autistic. Mommy of four, 2 of my own and my partner has two children that I take care of as my own.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love singing and dancing and drawing with kids. Talking and teaching and making them laugh and feel content, heard, and seen is top priority. For outdoors I do love bringing kids for walks dependent upon surrounding environment and wishes of parents. A fun trip to the ice cream shop is always a fun surprise for the kids too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating a space of safety and unconditional love for any child to feel open to express themselves fully and creatively and helping other families with their housework makes me feel good inside because I know how hard it is. It takes a tribe, y'all.

My experience with special needs children...

I spent my whole life caring for my nonverbal low functioning Autistic sister. She had a lot of emotional episodes until she got older, so it could be intense and tough to handle, but she has calmed down considerably throughout the years with patience and kindness. I am very open to working with special needs kids. I went to a convention when I was younger for siblings of special needs children and they helped us learn how to be aides to them from very young ages. They are our blessed children, in my opinion.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Almost every moment is sweet, funny, and ridiculous with my beautiful kids and my little sister. The youth have so much sweetness and innocence, but I cherish most when they inquire innocently about a subject so much larger than they could understand at that point, and having to reflect and help explain a concept in their way of understanding. And in general just the way kids are goofballs (one of mine has been sticking a colinder on her head recently haha!).
