A little bit about me

I am an SLP grad student, have worked as a preschool teacher (infants—5 years) for three years, and am now an RBT (3+ years). I am very comfortable with dogs/cats, but I am slightly afraid of reptiles (please don't ask me to feed them). When it comes to working with kids, I have done just about it all: potty training, sick days, feeding schedules/making meals, tutoring, tantrums, and more. My style of interaction with the children I work with is focused mainly on fun, but I always make it a priority to reaffirm and respect the requests/rules each family abides by. I am CPR and first aid certified, as well as experienced in working with individuals with special needs (registered behavioral therapist). I prioritize health, happiness, and kindness, and strive to embody these values in my work by creating a clean, fun, and nurturing environment.

In previous Nanning jobs we have done crafts, the park, at home learning activities, sports, and swimming, however I usually plan activities according to each child's interests/parent's requests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny/babysitter for me is to make the children and parents feel comfortable. For parents, it can be nerve-racking to leave their children, but I believe it is sometimes just as hard for the kids. I make it a priority to facilitate productive communication with the parents, and create a welcoming environment for the kids when accepting a job.

My experience with special needs children...

As a current RBT (3+ years) I am well-versed in ABA antecedent techniques for behaviors, facilitating social interaction, and finding fun and ability appropriate activities. I have worked with children of all ages, nonverbal/verbal, high intensity and low intensity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I babysat for a family of one of the kids in my class (5yr boy, and twin brothers). We spent an entire afternoon having a nerf gun wars then watching star wars and reading bed time stories, favorite family to date!
