Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For 1.5 years, I was a teacher aide for kids and adults with special needs. My job duties included taking the kids on community outings, teaching fine/gross motor skills and setting up fun art projects in the classroom.

LEGOS, play-doh, cooking, singing, dancing, soccer, tag, drawing, reading, arts and crafts, outdoor games.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I take pride in being very patient and conscientious of children's feelings. Kids want to be understood just like anyone else, and taking the time to listen to what they need without having your own agenda is extremely important.

My experience with special needs children...

The disabilities I am most familiar with are autism and down syndrome. I have also cared for kids who had cerebral palsy. I have experience with both verbal and non-verbal kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorites was when the girl I work with started ice skating on her own. She went from holding on to my hand the whole time to gliding along the ice comfortably without me. I was so proud of her!
