A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Amber and I am a blessed mom of 4 {not so little}, littles of my own ranging in age from 8 years old-20 years old.

I have done it all- from firefighter (EMR, CPR, and First Aid Certified), Auto Sales, Realtor, and I have owned my own childcare center. Children forever hold my heart though as the love they provide their trusted caregivers with is pure and honest!

My oldest daughter (15 years old) is high functioning autistic (formerly Aspergers), ADHD, and suffers from mental health issues. My youngest son (8 years old) is also ADHD, and likely autistic as well. Because of them, I have learned patience, acceptance, understanding, different methods of communication and that in order for them to succeed, we have to love them through their storms. Together we can accomplish anything!

I enjoy picnics, family friendly field trips (park, zoo, aquarium, movies, etc…) board games, reading, tea parties, and legos!

Amber was able to keep her focused with positive reinforcements and actually helped us with ideas on how to get her attention as well. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 4 children of my own and have worked for many daycare centers. Having worked in daycare centers, I learned that I didn’t want my own kids in daycare however, I still needed to “work”. It was then that I made the decision to start my own in-home childcare center. I only closed my doors when my husband was laid off and I couldn’t legally take in anymore kids. It was a sad day!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading books/ telling stories, building forts, watching movies, legos, hot wheels, Barbie’s, tea parties, pizza parties, nerf gun wars, singing, dancing, and watching them learn and develop new skills! ❤️

I also enjoy picnics, family friendly field trips (zoo, aquarium, movies, seasonal outings, park, community splash pad, etc…)

The most important part about being a nanny...

The children! Each day they are learning, growing, and becoming the people that God has designed them to be. It’s a caregivers responsibility to set an example of love, kindness, honesty, integrity, acceptance, and responsibility.

Let them be kids! Provide children with safe boundaries to learn, explore, dream, and become! Children (by nature) are loud and messy- let them! When they are done, help them clean up the mess! 😉

My experience with special needs children...

I personally have 2 children (ages 8 and 15) with special needs (ADHD, Aspergers) as well as a nephew (2 years old) that is visually impaired, auditory impaired and developmentally delayed. I also worked for Community High School in 2016. During this time, I worked with with 504 and IEP students to ensure that accommodations were being provided. I also subbed in the life skills classroom often.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had a little 2 year old boy that would get upset when his mom came home. Not because he didn’t want her there, but because he knew our playtime was over for the day. It made me giggle every time she would come home and he would try to push her back out the door. 🥰
