A little bit about me

I am a 43 yr. Old mother of 4 grown boys and grandmother of 6 girls. I have been a stay at home mom for 20 years. I have alot of experience with child rearing at all ages and all stages of life. I more recently worked in my local school district driving a school bus for pre-K- 12 , and also transported children with special needs and MRDD . I have cared for my neighbors children as well during those years when my children were home. My youngest is 15 and very independent. He has been homeschooled all his life and (just recently decided to join the public school system)due to a rare skin disorder he was born with that required my attention on a daily basis. He has become self reliant in caring for his skin condition over the course of the last 4 years and no longer requires my help. I have a very flexible schedule and distance does not bother me. I have also been a second mom to my nefew whom I had daily since he was born.I am certified in ACLS, BCLS,PCLS, First Aid,CPR.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am certified in CPR , ACLS, BCLS, PCLS and First Aid. I have had a BCI/FBI background check and cleared to work with children through the local public school system. I was a bus driver for 3 years. Ages pre-K to 12th grade. And I coached Varsity Cheer as head coach.I was a football mom, wrestling mom and bitty cheer coach as well. I have always worked with kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading to and with kids. It's great to see their eyes light up when they learn something new. I also am very outdoorsy! Love the zoo, museums, libraries and parks. I have many animals and pets so animals do not bother me. I think it is very important to give kids a variety of Activities to keep their minds and bodies busy and learning and to expose them to different things as much as possible to help them develop a better understanding of the world around them. I enjoy doing arts and crafts , developing learning opportunities and letting a child express themselves through creativity. It is soul fueling to watch children discover new things, to accomplish their goals and to be a supportive person in their lives.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the kids are the most important part of families as a whole. Kids need stability and consistency. And that in turn helps the foundation of the family as a whole. The kids having someone who they can trust and love and build a bond with in their daily lives helps them to be well rounded and healthy. Parents not having the daily stress and worry of if their children are ok and being taken care of while they are at work helps them to have peace of mind and more quality time with their kids when they are home. Children need to know and feel loved and respected. It's an important part of their growth mentality, emotional wellbeing and helps them to form lasting and trusting bonds with the people in their lives. I am a mom at heart. I absolutely love children and watching them grow and discover who they are as individuals. They are the sunshine in my life. I think the most important part of being a nanny is being a supportive role player to the families and children I work with.

My experience with special needs children...

As a bus driver our district transported special needs children as well as MRDD needs children. I have 3 years experience with working with these children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think my hardest moments were as a bus driver. I saw many kids who were lacking love and affection in their lives. Some even having abuse in their lives. As a driver I was a mandatory reporter for abuse and neglect. It was heart breaking at times to see these kids daily and build bonds with them only to have them leave the district and never see them again.
