Hi! Amy here. I am a full-time social worker in the field of developmental disabilities who has a passion for animals and the great outdoors. I have done my fair share of travel and I value the diversity this great state has to offer not only in its people but in its landscapes. Caring for others is in my nature, and something that brings me joy. Each career path I have ever chosen has allowed me to do just that. I love kids, and one of my favorite titles is auntie. Spending time with my nieces and nephews is one of my favorite things to do. I rarely pass up an opportunity to make memories with them. I take pride in not just being the fun aunt but the aunt whom they feel safe with. I hope I can provide the same security to your child(ren). More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Not only do I have many years of experience babysitting for family and family friends, I have worked as a nurse's aide within a healthcare network in Pennsylvania. I have also worked at a mental and behavioral health residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. Additionally, I regularly babysit my two nieces (ages 2 and 3). All of this has given me the necessary experience to be a nanny.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

There are so many fun things you can do with children. I love being outside; playing in the yard, going to parks, or taking a walk are just a few things that get kids outside and moving. I love doing arts and crafts, or showing kids how to bake cookies. I love playing pretend or building with blocks. I enjoy playing hide and seek. I will play any sport even if I am not well versed on it. The list of activities I enjoy could go on forever.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being anyone in a child's life is having the awareness that they are watching you. Whether you are their parent or the neighbor down the street, they see you and hear you. What we say and do can have a lasting impact on any child whom we interact with. I believe it is important to be aware of that so I can leave a positive impact on their lives.

My experience with special needs children...

I have not cared directly for a child with special needs in quite some time but I do have experience with individuals with special needs. My full-time job is dedicated to ensuring those with special needs have access to supports and services which will assist them with living full lives. I have been previously trained in de-escalation techniques as well as behavioral interventions. I am also willing to seek training opportunities as needed or requested.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have never held a position as a paid nanny before. However, I have many favorite moments of babysitting my nieces. There isn't enough room in this box for all of those moments. I enjoy the small things. The happiness I get from seeing a child's joy after creating a new piece of art is a gift in itself. The creativity of a child's imagination when playing with dolls, cars, or other figurines amazes me each time. I love to see children explore this magnificent world we live in. Seeing the world through a child's eyes is like seeing it for the first time again.
