A little bit about me

I've held many childcare positions over the past 30 years including preschool teacher and nanny. I started babysitting independently at age 11 and I still love it! Currently I'm seeking a part time role and occasional babysitting.

As a mature adult it's easy to relate to the demands of parenthood. I want to provide a sense of ease and stability. I consider myself responsible, gentle yet firm, empowering and available. I've been described by others as enthusiastic, warm, and patient.

I'm experienced in newborn and infant care. I'm very knowledgeable as it concerns early childhood development.

With older children I enjoy teaching basic life skills and incorporating learning into everyday experiences. A typical day with me will involve playing outside, arts and crafts, reading books, toys, singing and clean up games.

I have my own childcare style but like to be in tune with the parents. I'm your extension and would like to know your parenting style and personal philosophies.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to explore the yard and teach children about nature, take walks, play in the park, play games, board games or imaginary games, read books, sing and dance, practice counting and the alphabet, arts and crafts, baking or cooking, any practical learning, building blocks or Legos.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Primarily keep the children safe. To care, nurture, inspire and teach in accordance with the parents' philosophies. Be responsible, honest, punctual and reliable. Be an example of strong character.

My experience with special needs children...

I have been a nanny for 2 children with Autism and OCD. There were multiple children attending My Gym who had special needs. When I attended church as a teenager I volunteered with the special needs group and the deaf group weekly. At the nursery there was a young child with cerebral palsy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It is so hard to pick one! I have so many special memories.

One was when I was a live in nanny in Long Island for a Policeman. He had twins who turned 1 in springtime. We took them outside to walk on grass for the first time and their faces were priceless! They were so cute and we couldn't stop laughing.

Another favorite moment was when I was working with 2 children who really enjoyed a game that I invented with their action figure toys. I created voices and led the crew on adventures. The parents were ecstatic with how the children were playing the game with each other because historically they would fight terribly.
