Most recently I nannied a 3 month old boy and worked along side him and his family until he was nearly 2. During that time I also did part time nannying and babysitting for two girls ages 7 and 9 as well as for a family with three children ages 5, 7 and 10. Before that I nannied another boy from the age of 6 until he was 12 years old, and also worked in childcare for the YMCA for several years before that.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is meeting children where they are and setting a good example. Children have an incredible ability to learn and grow and each is so unique. I love to find out their learning styles, passions and personalities in order develop specific fun and enriching activities that will benefit them. It is very important to me to be a good example and role model because children learn more from watching what adults do then from what we specifically teach them. I also end up learning just as much from them as they do from me and that is so rewarding!
