A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Angie, and I have been in the Child Care field, since September 1999, with 32 years of babysitting experience, since early 1992. I have all of my State certifications, which include: ECI, ECII, Infant/Toddler course, SIDS training, Abusive Head Trauma (yearly), Mandated Reporter training (yearly), and both CPR/First Aid certified (renewed every 2 years) I have worked as both a Nanny, and a Child Care teacher. I really prefer, the one on one attention, you are able to provide the child/ren, being a Nanny. I love to do a variety of activities, that are not only fun for the children, but also incorporate learning experiences, as well. I believe, letting them be little/curious (to a certain extent), is crucial. Children develop at their own pace, and with positive guidance and praise, they grow to be happy and healthy. Their imaginations can run wild, if given the chance to explore their surroundings, sometimes on their own (with very close supervision).

"Angie was an amazing nanny. Not only did she love and treat our son - who was 3 mos, when she started with us, like her own, but she also respected our values and beliefs, by implementing those things into learning examples. Angie was always on time, and stayed late, if we needed her to. We did not have her do too much around the house - other than picking up after our son and washing his bottles. Although, she would take advantage of the times he was napping - if not in her arms, to clean other areas of the house, and do the endless loads of our son’s laundry. Angie enjoyed taking our son on outdoor walks, and even nature walks, on the trails of Lapham Peak. As our son got a little older, she took him to book club at the library, and educational outings, which he loved every minute of. We felt so secure, leaving our son, with Angie. She truly is a natural, when it comes to kids. Unfortunately, we had to move away, closer to our family, or Angie would still be with us!"

Art activities, outdoor activities, playing games, reading to the children, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to provide a child/ren, with the best care possible, and helping parents feel at ease, about leaving their pride and joy, with someone they don’t initially know, is very important to me. Communication, with both the children and parents, is also key. It is so important that both parties are on the same page. And the children need to know, their voices are heard, as well. Have daily conversations throughout the day, and ask them questions.

My experience with special needs children...

I grew up with my Cousin, who has special needs. I have also had several children with special needs, throughout my time, working in centers.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I always think back on the time I cared for a little girl, who was 1 1/2 at the time. I always wore my sunglasses, while going for our daily walks. She was so intrigued by them, I decided to buy her a cute little pair, for herself. About 2 days in, she wore them only when we went for a walk…and one day, she said “Aaagggiiee” (her pronounciation was adorable). As I stopped and looked down, her exact words were: “I cool now too!!” We had such fun times, together.
