A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Anneke! (It’s pronounced like Uh-nic-kah) I grew up in Germantown, WI and graduated from UW Oshkosh in 2019 with a Biology degree. Through high school and college, most of my experience was in healthcare. However, I discovered that it wasn’t the right fit for me and shifted gears. For the past 2 growing seasons, I have worked at Winterspring Farm in Newburg, WI planting, cultivating, and harvesting organic vegetables.
I am now looking for work over the winter close to home, in Germantown, and would love the opportunity to be your nanny/babysitter!
A little bit more about me! I live with family and help care for my grandma, who lives with us. Additionally, we have the family dog and my chocolate lab, Phoebe - it’s a full house! In my free time, I go to the community garden to tend my garden plot, care for my house plants, walk/hike with Phoebe, or read a book/listen to a podcast.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Nanny/babysitter - 4 + years - Cared for a family of 3 children over summer vacations, family vacations, and evenings out. I also babysat for other local families ranging from 1 to 3 children.
CNA - 7 years - I was a CNA at various facilities caring for a variety of populations including nursing home, in-home care, hospice, pediatrics, and NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). In college, I worked at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Fox Valley on their NICU and pediatric floors, I was primarily on the NICU floor. There, I was responsible for documenting admissions, discharges, and health information along with caring for our patients and their families. The NICU was one of my favorite nursing populations to work with because of the relationships and connections I made.
Resident Advisor - 2 years - In college I was an RA in the dorms, responsible for 40 freshman residents. I helped resolve conflicts, shared building security duty, and planned floor events.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to stay busy and to get outside as often as I can! Rain, shine, snow, if we have the gear and it’s safe to do so, I do my best to get outside everyday. For inside activities, arts and crafts, baking, story time, making and dancing to music, and creative play are all something to look forward to!

My experience with special needs children...

This past winter I lived with a friend and occasionally their 2 children, both of which have special needs. C, 8, has a chromosomal disorder and symptoms similar to nonverbal autism with epilepsy. S, 4, is nonverbal and autistic. When they were at the home, I helped entertain and care for them by playing music and dancing, reviewing colors and the alphabet, reading books, or snuggling after a rough day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have a few!
I went on a trip to Door County with a family and their extended family to help watch the 3 kids I nannied for along with the other children in the family. It was a blast!
That same family, I’m friends with them on Facebook. Their middle child is now in college! It’s been wild to watch them grow up!
Working in the NICU, we have a Facebook page where the families will often post updates of their NICU grads. It’s so cool to see a baby I helped care for growing up and going off to kindergarten! It’s so special to be a part of that!
