Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have done partial exchanges for families. One was for a couple that now has climbed high in the film production industry. I helped with their 5 and 1-year-old. On Kauai, I lived at a bed and breakfast, helped with that including a 4 and 12-year-old. On Maui, I worked with a couple and sometimes read to their son. These experiences were before I became an educator around 20 years ago! I also did quite a bit of childcare for my two nieces when they were 4 and 8 -- 4 years younger than me!

Arts and crafts, Language development and comprehension games, social emotional development on normative behaviors and role play. Love of nature and exploring the wonders of the natural world.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Is when children show trust. I recall my 4-year-old friend Yuri: he and I loved to watch Snow White. He looked really afraid during a scene when the witch planned the destruction of Snow White. So, I made fun of the witch. In the future, he mimicked my fun making of the witch when he was frightened during the movie. When I was around, he would go and get the CD and tell an adult that we needed to watch it. I knew I had touched his heart and that he trusted me.
