I've worked as a preschool and prekindergarten teacher while I was a college student. I was trained in both Reggio-Emilia (a bit like Montessori) and trauma-informed teaching and care. I've worked with children in homeless shelters and with children in ASD-specific classrooms.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I nannied a little boy from about six weeks old to a little over five years old. In that time, his parents would often tell me about the things he would say or do that reminded them of me: talking with his hands, dramatic facial expressions, and using really precise language (which is really funny to hear from a little kid). It's not a "moment" but a collection of them: nannying is not "just babysitting" -- you become a part of a family and thus start to "rub off" on people in that family, and I find that to be such a wonderful example of the love you can find in a profession like this.
