I worked as a teacher aide at a Montessori school, where I tutored, played with, and watched after 20+ children aged 2-6. The curriculum is heavily based on allowing the children to be independent in their choices while they learn to further develop their motor and social skills, respect their environments (classroom, home, nature, etc.), and take responsibility for their tasks and belongings. My experience with the Montessori method has shown me that children are excellent self-learners and do better with a kind, gentle, guiding hand than a strict rule enforcer.
