Worked for the Washington County Board of Education for two years as a Reading Tutor apprentice, and provided intervention for students at risk for reading inmproficiencies. I implemented tools such as Stepping Stones and Sound Partners to teach kids about phonics, phonemic awareness, and writing. I have experience with students with special needs and autism, as well as behavioral issues.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Playing educational games (usually word or math games), board games, legos and building toys, coloring, and making up cool games, and singing. I prefer to do things that keep the kids stimulated, but as long as they're having productive fun then all is well.

Being a nanny is all about making sure that the children you care for feel safe, protected, acknowledged and cared for. But it's also important that as a nanny, I make parents feel comfortable about who they've allowed to care for their child. That I am trusted, consistent, and reliable.
My experience with special needs children...
During my time at Salem Avenue Elementary School I had one-on-one instruction and time with many students who had ADHD, Autism, or special needs. I not only provided instruction and tutoring to these children, but I also became their safe place. A person they felt comfortable with.
In the after school program at the same school I would be in charge of a certain child who had special needs. I was with him one-on-one in group settings and otherwise. I was trusted by my coworkers to care for and guide him.
