I worked briefly for Boys and Girls Club, but did not feel it was the right fit for me as I prefer to work with smaller groups of kids. I have also worked in at home daycares with family growing up and have done nannying and babysitting since I was 12.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Some indoor activities I enjoy doing with kids include things such as cooking, arts and crafts, child friendly science experiments, and even learning activities such as playing store to learn counting and adding/subtracting.
Some outdoor activities I enjoy doing with kids include taking walks, gardening if there’s a place for it, building structures out of materials such as cardboard, and going to the park.

For me it means caring for the children like they are a part of your own family. That includes being someone who helps them learn new things and encourages that curiosity in them.

I was working with a family who had elementary aged children during Covid; and the children were doing homework so the baby and I were sitting with them and playing. The baby grabbed one of the blocks and brought it over to their siblings and sat to play with them while they did homework. It was such a sweet moment that just really stuck with me over two years later.
