A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Ashanti-Kae (Ash for short) and I'm a Caribbean (Jamaican) Childcare Giver with over 5 years professional experience and over 10 years experience in general. I am a fluent English speaker who has experience working with multiples and children between ages newborn to eleven (11) years old with references available.

I am a very creative, flexible, responsible and easygoing person who loves working with children of all ages. My experience includes working as a Nanny, Au Pair, Mother's Helper, tutor, babysitter and Childcare Aide (volunteer work at local primary school and daycare).

Some of my roles included bringing children to and from school/church/outings, arranging playdates, haircare, occasional child-related chores (washing clothes, tidying room/bathroom, spreading bed, sanitizing toys and ironing), creating children's activities, tutoring and meal prep.

Her job was mostly childcare with meal/bottle prep and light housekeeping. doing volunteer work as a childcare assistant for a daycare, volunteer work at a local library's kids' summer camp and volunteer work as an assistant teacher at a local primary school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

include, but aren't limited to, playdates, arts&crafts and impromptu plays/storytelling.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is simply seeing a child growing and flourishing under my care - physically, socially and mentally. Their looks plus shouts of joy and the hugs when they see me are also pure bliss.

My experience with special needs children...

is from doing volunteer work at a local daycare/preschool as well as being a foster parent. One had physical disabilities while the other was autistic and non-verbal.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are many but one that still makes me smile is my first time meeting the 10month old I'd be caring for in California. His mother and I went to collect him from daycare and she told me he's shy with strangers. When the daycare worker brought him out, he came straight into my arms then snuggled on my shoulders and smiled and we all had an "awwwww!" moment.

Another favourite is when I've taught a child something and they proudly teach everyone else, saying "Aunty Ash taught me" or "Aunty Ash helped me". Their pride in having accomplished something that they're proud of is always a feel good moment.
