I have an extensive background in art as well, and attended The School of The Art Inisitute of Chicago. I love psychology, nature, and connecting with others. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at an at-home daycare for the holidays last year, clubs that had child focused events (ie. face painting, art activities), and a cat boarding facility that required the care and general medicating of cats.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor games and sports such a soccer, or tennis ( I played in middle school and high school), art projects and activities, events and out of home activities such as a zoo trip or grabbing frozen yogurt.

Helping children become fundamentally independent, positive, and creative people.

My experience with special needs children...

As a child I struggled with ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and a speech impediment. Through writing and speech therapy I have overcame these challenges, and enjoy working with children and peers will similar struggles. This gives me a unique advantage as a caretaker, as I have greater empathy, patience, and general understanding of the personal frustrations of these issues. As well as tricks and coping mechanisms I've found that help me with reading, writing, and talking. Working with children with special needs just means greater empathy and patience. I don't believe children do things out of spite, they are simply trying to have their needs met in the best way they know how. As caretakers we are responsible for meeting those needs and being patient.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was practicing walking with one of the babies at the daycare I worked at, and she began to take a few steps. This was a really proud and happy moment for me! she also was quite happy it seems as she was giggling :).
