Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've worked as an STNA at a nursing home as well as a home health aid while doing volunteer hospice care. I've also done daycare and babysitting work where I've worked with all ages, all disabilities as well as all health related issues. I'm also a mother to two beautiful children myself.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts, and kind of games, coloring, I'm also a published poet so if they enjoy that I love that as well. For my children I've also set up holiday themed movies nights to have together with fun snacks. Baking and cooking is also a joy of mine.
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters most to me is being able to be an important and uplifting figure in a child's life. Someone they can look to for advice and guidance and be there when they need me. My role is to the parents and children like family and be someone they can always rely on to be there. Knowing I can make a difference in anyone's life is what I strive to be.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with children with autism, epilepsy, down syndrome, children unable to move in anyway, feeding tubes, deaf, speech and developmental disabilities, as well as all mental health illnesses.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment would have to be when I cared for a child with autism. He was sweet and kind but very quiet and wary of everyone understandably. When he came to know me more he became more verbal with me and started expressing himself more. I had gotten a late night call and he was very distraught. His mom said he was asking for me so I got up and went there and was able to help calm him down. In that moment I knew I was making a difference in his life. Being able to be there for him in his time of need and his mother's need was my job but being there at that moment was my duty as his nanny.
