I love going outside to the park with kids, letting them ride bikes/scooters/skates! I love drawing with chalk, going swimming, etc! I also love taking older ones on fun outings like mini golfing, movies, shopping, zoos, kids’ museums, and aquariums. I’m also a sucker for some Altitude jumping!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is knowing that kids are going to be kids, and having the patience to handle any and all situations. Also doing whatever it takes to hope the kids feel safe with you; staying consistent, showing up, never judging, and explaining everything they ask questions about! Theres a difference between knowing you’re safe, and feeling safe, therefore you need to have the patience for kids to get the feeling of security of having you around.
My experience with special needs children...
As a behavior therapist, I work with children who are diagnosed with autism, add, adhd, etc. I’ve also worked with children who have traumatic backgrounds that include neglect, abuse, etc, and have created special bonds with all of them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Driving all the way from Orlando to Miami and back for opening day as his first NFL game! I bonded well with my last family, and their second son is a Patriots fan too. To know the family trusted me enough to give him this amazing experience was just wonderful.
