Hello, my name is Ashlyn Kennedy. I am currently presuming my A.A at Riverside City College for Childhood and adolescent development. I currently do not have any ECE units, though I am presuming college to obtain these units.
I love to read and learn new things, arts and crafts is one of my biggest joys that I love to share with others! I have always inherited deep compassion & empathy, and I desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to their emotional well-being. Also, I am enthusiastic about creating a nurturing environment for children to thrive. Over the past 2 years, I have worked and volunteered with children to grow my skills in educating and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the growth and happiness of the children I have the privilege of caring for with the knowledge I have gained.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My most recent experience comes from working for an afterschool program. While working for the program, I taught a classroom of 32 second and third graders. As well as created lesson plans. This helped me grow exponentially by being able to work with different personalities and be very organized by being ready everyday with plans for my students that provide something meaningful and productive.
Baby sitting my younger siblings was my first experience with children. This taught me patience, empathy, and awareness. Most care provided was for short periods after school which included small meals, activities, and most important homework!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

All children like different activities. While working with students we did a lot of arts and crafts, especially coloring pages, painting, and follow along drawings on YouTube. I loved reading as a kid because I had a fantastic library teacher in grade school, so another activity I love for children is reading to them and having them read to me to make sure they understand and if not, it’s another activity to work on! My students loved being outside and I did sports as a child so I understand the importance of physical activity and how it can help children find a new passion!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part to me about being a nanny is providing genuine care and support for parents who are doing their best to provide an amazing life for themselves and their kids. For me, being able to provide less stress and security to a parent who may already be dealing with what life may throw at them, is extremely important to me. Making sure your child is safe and healthy is my biggest priority, as a nanny, I strive to be a good role model to your child/ children at all times.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Working in an afterschool program allowed me to do many crafts with many students all at once! We did all the Holiday Crafts & activities, we had Movie days on Fridays, and to me my favorite thing was watching the children I was teaching enjoying their time and being able to supply these experiences for them.
