More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked in childcare and different caretaking roles for 10+ years. Aside from watching after my sister or young cousins, I started babysitting for moms in my neighborhood when I was 12. I grew stronger relationships with some of the families who I had babysat for and got consistent jobs watching their children. I got my first full time nanny job when I was 16. I cared after a 9 month year old and was his nanny for a year and a half. I got a job at a group home for teenagers and individuals with special needs. This job challenged me in many ways and not only helped me grow technical skills like crisis intervention, CPR & First Aid but it also made me more empathic and patient. Aside from caregiving, I was a swim instructor so i'm comfortable taking the kiddos to the beach or pool. I am more then willing to help with preparing meals, laundry and other housekeeping. I have my license and a clean driving record and can confidentiality give rides to and from school or other activities.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Swimming, going to the park and any activity outdoors. I also love doing arts and crafts.
My experience with special needs children...
I believe my experience as a caretaker in a group home setting made me more compassionate, patient and empathetic. It helped me strengthen my communication skills and helped me realize how important it is for children to have a safe space to feel heard and be able to express themselves.
