I have volunteered and worked for my church’s youth group, helping organize and mainly execute events for holidays, celebrations, or birthday parties.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I absolutely love doing activities with children. When indoors, my artistic side takes over and I love to introduce different arts and crafts projects. I also enjoy reading to children or helping them to read their self. When outdoors, I love letting the child’s imagination run wild and we can play whatever game comes to mind whether it be tag, pretend, or building a fun (and safe) obstacle course that the child can accomplish their self.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is treating the child like your own.. I understand that as a parent I would be very worried if I were not the one watching my child, so it is extremely important that you always show the parents that you care, you are listening to every word they say, and the way that they want to parent their child is the way you should care for that child. Respect for the parents is extremely important as you want to build a strong trust and bond with the parents. As the parent, they want to see that you are exactly what they want to be around their child when they are occupied.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not cared for special needs children, but I love all children no matter what. I am always willing to learn and adapt but only at the parents comforts and wishes.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I was 17 years old. I was babysitting for a friend of mine, her two year old son Nicholas. Little Nicholas could not figure out my name for the life of him but he sure was trying. We had spent a good 15 minutes repeating sounds to each other until one moment he got very quiet.. then yelled AUBREY. It was the cutest thing ever and seeing that happiness on his face when he got it right was the best part.
