A little bit about me

Hello, I'm a young woman who simply adores working with kids and has dreams of opening my own school some day. I'm young but I have a 10+ years of childcare experience. I have been tutoring since I was 8, babysitting since 12 and nannying/doing respite care work since 18. I worked in a school as a teacher in the toddler and preschool programs and as an assistant in the infant room. I have watched kids as young as newborns and up through young teens. I have an extensive amount of experience with autism and I was most recently a Registered Behavior Technician (Voluntary Inactive Status). I've done social and academic tutoring from kindergarten through a fifth grade level. I am CPR and First Aid certified. I'm hard working, dedicated, and I love kids. I'm a fast learner. I love to be an engaged nanny; outside activities, educational games and activities, arts and crafts, and reading are all things I love to incorporate into my time with kids. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a Registered Behavior Technician, a teacher's assistant in an infant program, a co-teacher in a toddler/preschool program, a respite care worker, a private tutor, a field trip guide, a volunteer nursery director, a foster parent and a babysitter.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outdoors, nature walks, scavenger hunts, park outings etc. Reading is so fun and something I think is very important to incorporate in my time with children. I like doing dance parties, yoga/stretching routines. Arts and crafts are an amazing way to foster kids' creativity. I have montessori experience so I like to put together activities that encourage practical life skills, education, sensorial and motor skills, etc. Age appropriate S.T.E.A.M activities are always a blast! Including kids in things like cooking projects is one of my favorite ways to have fun teachable moments.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It's important to me that kids feel a consistentcy across caregivers and that they feel comfortable and cared for while their parents are otherwise engaged. It's equally important to me that the parents feel like their child is safe and well cared for so that they can achieve whatever they need to while I care for their child.

My experience with special needs children...

I'm a Registered Behavior Technician (Voluntary inactive status) for kids on the autistic spectrum. I've been a respite care worker for years and cared for special needs children as a teacher, baby sitter and foster parent. I've worked with ASD, ADD, ADHD, PDD, SPD, ODD and Epilepsy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There's so many! A couple years ago a parent mentioned to one of my kiddos that being a Nanny was my job and they got upset because they thought I was just their friend. I explained that being their friend was the best job I could have. I endeavor to make every child feel like I'm their friend as well as caregiver.

My most recent favorite moment was with the most precious little girl made a picture with all her family members and wanted to include me. I think it's best for kids and super healthy that they feel a consistentcy across caregivers so it's very touching when kids show that I've done my job well and they feel comfortable and cared for while their parents are otherwise engaged.
