The most important part about being a nanny...
There was a little girl I watched, for the sake of the story her name is Dawn, when I first started watching her she loved to try and push rules a bit since I'm not her mom. One of my favorites was when she asked me to leave her door open at bedtime so she "can wake up with the sun". The reason she needed me to leave the door open was because it had a child lock, so I said "I cant leave your door open dawn its against your mom's rules". So she asks me to remove the lock, now I know it isnt everyone's cup of tea but I fib to the kids, I responded with "I cant take the locks off cause I dont have kids". This of course sparks a whole lot of questions, but im ready, I've used this line before. So here's how I laid it out
-All adults can bypass child locks
-only Parents can put them on and remove them
I've been over MANY more times since, and shes never asked me to take a lock off since, that moment solidified for me that kids just want answers it doesnt matter if they're true or not.
