I believe the most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe, loving, and consistent environment where children can grow, feel understood, and be themselves. Kids thrive when they know they’re cared for, and I love being that steady, supportive person who can make their day fun while also helping them learn and build confidence. For me, it’s about more than just watching kids—it’s about creating memories, guiding them with patience, and being someone they can trust and feel comfortable with every day.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience supporting my aunt, who has an intellectual/developmental disability (IDD). Even though she is an adult, she functions more like a younger child, so I’ve learned how important it is to meet her where she’s at developmentally. Spending time with her has given me patience, compassion, and the ability to adapt. I engage her in age-appropriate activities, keep routines consistent, and help her feel supported and included. This experience has taught me how to encourage independence while offering guidance and care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was when I babysat a little girl who loved playing with dolls. I joined right in, and it quickly became one of our favorite activities together. It was special for me because I loved playing with dolls when I was younger too, so it felt like I was not only connecting with her but also getting to heal my inner child. Seeing her so happy while we played made me realize how meaningful it is to share those little joys with kids.
