A little bit about me

Hi my name is Avery Powers, I am 19 years old and currently am in college at Angelina for nursing. I previously worked at a nursing home for a couple months after having training in high school for many months. ThereI worked as a CNA, caring for about 16-17 residents for 12 hours a day. I would feed, change/assist to the bathroom, I’d be lifting/turning 50-100lbs. But I do have anxiety (I’m now medicated) but had to unfortunately have to leave that job. I figured because I love it so much I can do something similar and a little less demanding when it comes to residence or now the little ones 🤍🤍 I want to be a mother one day and I know that I’m still pretty young, my boyfriend is even younger 😳 and right now this will help fill in that need for caring for someone. And another obvious factor- now that I’m not working I don’t have a job🤦‍♀️ and so I have no money.. and gotta have that to live in the world so.. here I am finding an alternative way to work without stressing myself out:)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like activities, something to get their brains going or bodies moving. Bonus for both of those and/or singing, that’s great too music is always good. I like knowing what the kids enjoy too but also suggesting my own things when they haven’t been super active. I also enjoy snacking, snacking is good for the soul. I’m also down to chill and relax, lay back and watch a movie or two, play video games if that’s what ya’ll do 😂.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the children are safe, fed, clean, and happy (if possible lol).

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve learned a lot about special needs just from personal research on it alone. But I have friends that have family and have worked with special needs children and we’ve had tons of conversation’s about it. I’ve also stayed many times with her and her young bothers and younger sister, the youngest boy is autistic. I also have high functioning autism and that is why I’ve researched it in my own spare time.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was baby sitting my cousin’s son, he was I think around 4-5 at the time. We were playing catch across the room with one of the snack size bags of Doritos… well his arms went up a little slower because he was laughing so much and i chucked it… well it hit him right it the face and he fell back onto the couch and just started giggling non stop for like 5 mins after that😂
