A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Ayla! I'm an artist, age 24, currently living in Black Mountain. After working in administration, education, and the arts, I'm returning to nannying part-time.

I began nannying when I was thirteen. I've enjoyed my roles as a tutor and household assistant for many of the families I served. I'd love to know how I can help make your busy life a little easier!

I've worked with families from many different backgrounds, and I've found that my work with neurodivergent children has been particularly rewarding. I someday hope to serve my community by making comprehensive art therapy more accessible. I believe that creativity is a powerful tool for growth, especially with children who need special help navigating today's world.

While I don't currently hold certifications, I'm planning to start First Aid and CPR courses soon. If these are crucial for your security in a childcare provider, I'm happy to prioritize them. I can be flexible with any other requests as well.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've volunteered with children of under-served local communities, providing care and guidance. I also served as the Director of Community Service at a college preparation company, where I organized and oversaw application-strengthening programs that connected middle and high schoolers with their own communities across the country.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Neighborhood exploration, museum and park visits, arts n crafts, writing projects, reading together, planning playdates, setting up movie nights, and throwing our own little dance parties are all on the itinerary. I like to encourage imaginative play, and I love discovering new interests together!

The most important part about being a nanny...

An will to truly connect with children, through trust, respect, fun, and nurturing. is the most important part! For me, nannying has always felt like practice for being the best mommy I can be someday. I really do love my kids, and I can't think of anything more important than that :)

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience with physical disabilities, including mobility difficulty, asthma, immune-deficiencies, and specialized diets. I have considerable experience with learning disabilities, such as autism and ADHD, as well as mental disorders and complex trauma.

I believe that in order for them to be their best self, a child must be allowed to grow in their own way, at their own pace. I take pride in creating a safe, nurturing environment that's individually tailored to the needs of every child in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my kids struggled with reading and her trouble sitting still made storytime stressful and frustrating for her. She loved nature, and flowers in particular, so we started going on daily adventures to find new plants and learn their names together. Once we honed in on that interest and began bringing field guides with us on our nature walks, her reading skills immediately started to improve. She's a very good reader now, and I'm very proud of her for finding joy in learning again.
