More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I grew up as a pastor's daughter, helping out in the church Nursery and teaching Sunday School for the kids. From Ages 11-15, I worked for the Family Center run out of my parent's church for their after school and Summer Day Camp Programs as a Junior Leader, and Science and Craft teacher. I continued to assist with child care during church events and functions, and was a Camp Counselor until I was 21. From ages 24-25 I worked as a Live in Caretaker for the Intellectually and Developmentally challenged in Texas, during this time, I received most of my Certifications. I would be happy to renew any necessary certifications for purposes of documentation in this current state, as it is difficult to access the older ones. I am experienced with insulin pumps and shots, medications, peg tubes, colostomy bags, wheel chairs, patient transfer slings, cpr, and have been educated on spotting signs of predatory behavior.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy Arts and Crafts, Fun Science, playing outside and making it educational or imaginative, Reading stories and making funny voices, and occasionally singing little songs.
It's important to me to make things fun, especially when leaning is involved.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Fun. Comfort. Safety, and learning. Little bitty ones are sponges. They learn from those around them, and it's important to set a good example.
My experience with special needs children...
Most of my work with special needs individuals is with adults from when I was a Live in Caretaker. However, I worked with high and low functioning individuals.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I worked with an incredibly smart young lady, when working for my parent's aftershool program. She was easily distracted by her friends, so had to be isolated when working on homework and studying. She was incredible at math, but struggled with reading comprehension and spelling. I'd spend hours with her helping her study the nights before tests days. Since she was good at pattern recognition, I made rhymes, silly jokes and songs to help her with words she struggled with.
I remember the first time I helped her study for a spelling test, and she called herself stupid, frustrated near tears, and reassuring her.
The first time she got a 100% on a spelling test, she just about knocked me over running over to hug me. I was so, SO proud of her.
