A little bit about me

I’m 2nd of 8 kids So I did get ALOT of experience babysitting my siblings. :-) as a teenager I watched babysat for neighbors. I also volunteered at my son’s elementary school . Which entailed helping teacher(s) , kiddos ,pretty much anyone who needed me.
I’m a 50 yr old married (. 22 years / together for 32 yrs) to my high school sweetheart. We are proud parents of our 19 yr old son that is a junior at UC Davis this coming year ! I’ve had a few different types of jobs. Mailman ( or lady) waitress, telemarketer, lots of babysitting , worked at elementary school for a good 8 years etc One of my favorites was being a photographer/ manager at The Picture People. A photography studio that involved a lot of different types of portraits to a bunch of different customers. It was so rewarding. A lot of the time I would take the baby’s pic from birth to sometimes high school graduation! A lot of the times being more like an auntie that takes their pics. Pat of the fam. 🥰

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Well, I am the second of 8 kids ! I can’t count how many times I’ve had to / been asked to babysit my siblings. I also had the privilege of pretty much being at school with my now 19 year old young man from preschool til 7th grade. I was in classroom “room mom” sometimes morning til lunch , other times lunch til end of school and sometimes all day. I liked it so much I continued to help teacher for 2 years after my kiddo left for high school! It was an AWESOME experience!! My kid could care less if I were there ;however, I was able to help and befriend students that were shy, over stimulated , I even got to teach my own lil group of students. Watching them grow and being a big part not just in their education but in their lives.
I ran into a student at an A’s baseball game. I met him in kindergarten and now he’s head of security. ( for pro baseball, concerts etc ) I’m so proud of him. Hope this helps.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I’m pretty much into anything’s that makes them smile. Walks, games, ,making chores fun , learning activities reading to them and listening to them read , crafts ( not much of an artist though :-) ) . I really just would like to be “part of “ fam, I believe kiddos NEED to have people in their lives that they can trust , having your trust is a must

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being present. Obviously being attentive and safe. To make the time I spend with them purposeful. It’s super important to me that the kiddos have fun and are happy 😃 At the same time teach them right from wrong . I’m not a teacher but I do kinda like to teach them like ex. Not giving up. Say we are doing a craft and almost finished. I’d definitely encourage them to finish. And hopefully send the message of why it’s important to finish tasks. Be proud of themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

Actually my good friend has a 31 year old daughter with special needs. I always treat her with respect and love. I give her the extra moments she might need.

I’ve been blessed knowing and becoming buddies with my neighbor’s child that was born wirh Down syndrome. What a smart kid! Well toddler now. I understand how important it is(as with any child ) show love and affection. At the same time understand they me need a lil extra. :-). To make sure that you treat them the same way as others of course. Also to inquire about how things work around the house. Pretty much pay close attention while sticking to what parents have suggested and asked of you.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Hard to pick. One of the best moments was watching and contributing ( like an awesome auntie) to the life of a child I watched grow from baby to senior in high school. Spending and being involved in so many special moments in this child’s life. Good times and not so good times being able to be there to love and support them. I got to watch and be part of first tooth, first day of school , bruises bumps , tantrums and surprises, holidays and bdays etc. So hard to pick one moment but I guess I’d say watching the bond and relationships grow for the child and family. Especially watching siblings love and well not love so much each other. Also mom n dad learning and sharing all the new and exciting things that come from family.

Chantal B. - Seeking Work in Rio Linda

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Rio Linda, CA: Chantal B.

Hi! My name Chantal , and I have over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages. I spent seven years working within school districts as an after-school program leader and teacher’s assistant supporting children from preschool through third grade, including children with special needs before becoming a nanny. And babysitting in between.

I’m also bilingual in English and Spanish, and I’ve even helped one of my nanny children learn to speak Spanish! I enjoy encouraging learning through play, creativity, structure, and positive communication.

I truly love working with children and helping families feel supported and confident that their little ones are in good hands.
