Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica with my Spanish class when I was in high school, and we visited an elementary school in the mounteverde cloud forest. We stayed with some of their families for three days and got to see how they grew up, what their day to day activities were, and how their school worked. It was an amazing opportunity and sparked my interest in child developmental psychology, and travel.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’d say this depends on the child’s age, but I’ve found the kids that I’ve worked with to enjoy books, playing board games, and playing hide and seek the most, while indoors. For outdoor activities, tag is always a go to, or any sort of water activities like swimming, slip n slides, or running through the sprinklers. I grew up in a very athletic family and played multiple sports when I was younger, and volleyball competitively until recently so I’m always down to play any sports as well!
The most important part about being a nanny...
It’s hard to pick just one thing! I would say the most important parts about being a nanny is not only setting a good example for the kids, but also showing them respect and earning their respect. I’ve learned that once that is established, everything else comes easier. Also, can’t forget about having fun!!
