I was a Special Education Assistant for Los Angeles County office of Education for 10 years. I started watching children at the age of 11, a set of newborn twins and their older 4 and 6-year-old siblings. I watched them into teen years. I am still in contact with them as adults and now as parents themselves. I am also the mom of a 21-year-old.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
any outdoor activity, games, video games, reading, or puzzles. I'm not much for TV and have not owned one in over two years. I think movement, creativity, and learning are healthier for kids than being in front of a screen.

Warping the minds of young people—just kidding! No, really, nurturing children to be who they were always created to be. Allowing them to live in their imagination and seeing where it takes them... Children have this amazing freedom; its a beautiful thing.
My experience with special needs children...
For 10 years with special education, I was the nanny of a deaf young lady (who knew very little signs). I have also worked with developmentally disabled adults for more than two years. I am currently a respite care provider on call with a 26-year-old with Down syndrome.
