One of my favorite moments was when the nonverbal child I care for began to accept my affection and eventually started showing it to others, like her therapist. I believe I played a role in this breakthrough by consistently showing her love and warmth, helping her feel safe and comfortable. Over time, she grew more confident in expressing herself, and seeing her connect with others in this way was incredibly heartwarming. It’s a moment that reminds me why I love what I do and the impact a nurturing environment can have on a child’s growth.
