A little bit about me

Hi There! My name is Brianna, and I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work with your family! I am a graduate of Saint Mary's College of California with a degree in Psychology as of May 2020. I have on and off experience with babysitting/nannying and I feel blessed by anyone gracious enough to welcome me into their home and allow me to make their lives a bit easier. In high school, I watched my neighbor's two little girls all four years. They were 3 and 5 when I met them, and were such a delight! I helped with lunch and dinner, homework, dance, showers and bedtime, and taking care of their kitty. Also, for a semester or so in college, I watched a supervisor's three kids, ages 2, 3, and 5. They also had a kitty, and I helped mostly with dinner and bedtime. I am so excited to grow in my nannying skills, and I hope I can be the right fit for your family.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout college, I volunteered at various locations throughout the bay area where I was able to spend time with kids, mostly in school settings and after school programs. I helped students of all ages with homework, reading, writing, and facilitated/supervised indoor/outdoor play. I spent the last year (July 2020-July 2021) working in Rhode Island at a residential treatment facility with court-adjudicated young men (ages 14-18). I was able to do this through a volunteer program and with my degree in Psychology. I worked in their social services department as the case manager. I helped the boys and their families with paperwork, translating as necessary (I speak Spanish fluently), schoolwork, personal growth, and so much more depending on their circumstances. It was a challenging and rewarding role, and I am so grateful I have that experience in my 'tool belt'.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Although I am not great at sports, I enjoyed playing sports with kids! I also really enjoy helping kids with school work, especially reading and writing. Anytime a child shows interest in a subject or activity, I am extremely happy and honored to indulge in that with them, because I know we will have fun and I will learn something new. Puzzles, card games, and any age-appropriate play is something I will gladly facilitate/participate in!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is that the family and the children feel comfortable with who I am and deem me as a trustworthy individual. Another piece to that is that I can keep everyone in the house safe and feel safe in return.

My experience with special needs children...

I spent a year working with young men that have/d varying degrees of mental health, drug/alcohol use, and anger struggles.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments are reading with kids or any kind of teachable moment where we all come out of a situation learning something new. I come with an open mind and have a belief that anyone can teach me something new. Teachable moments with children I have cared for have allowed me the opportunity to get to know them better and they (hopefully) learn something of value as well.
