The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that the most important part of being a nanny is connecting with both the kids and the parents. The parents should be able to fully trust you to take care of their child and the kid should be able to both feel safe with you and have fun with you.
My experience with special needs children...
Although I have not had experience watching any children with special needs I have spent much time around kids with special needs including kids on the autism spectrum, kids in wheel chairs, and kids with selective mutism. I do not doubt that I would be able to watch and properly care for a kid with special needs any less than I would be able to care for a kid without.
