My experience with special needs children...
i babysit a 5 year old child with severe autism, when working with her i made sure i spoke with the parents about what some triggers where for her so i could make her feel as safe and comfortable as possible. the child could only speak a few words so i made sure to pay attention to things like her body language and how she was trying to express her needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
a girl a baby sat a couple of times was very very shy,it took her weeks to open up to me.but i came home from vacation one week and baby sat for the family again and the little girl ran up to me and gave me a huge hug.This was very special to me because she had never even gave me a high five yet so it was amazing seeing how she knew she would be okay around me.
