More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nanny to multiple families (3mos-6yo's), been babysitting since I was 12 (all ages), K-6th elementary school para, church counselor for 3-7yo's and 8th grade girls, I'm a sub in for my family members at home daycares, I come from a big family and have 5 young nieces and nephews!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Getting them out of the house, or even just playing in the yard, going on walks, to the park, the zoo, the discovery center, library (age appropriate, these are some places my old nanny kids and I liked to do where I'm from originally). I think getting outside for at least a little of your day is super important!
Although I am not the most crafty person, most kiddos love crafts, so there are many activities I've copied online that they've loved!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny are the relationships you build with the kiddos and the parents. Nannies should be loving their kids, having fun, providing a comfortable and safe space for them. At the same time, they establish boundaries and respect, and give appropriate consequences when needed. Nannies are there to help, support, grow connections and relationships, help kiddos grow and learn, keep them safe. Being able to be trusted and communicate with parents.
SO, I believe that relationships with the kid/baby and family is the most important part.

My experience with special needs children...
When I worked as a para professional, I was mainly "assigned" special needs kiddos. I worked with K-6th graders, I got to go in their classrooms and guide them in directions for the assignments that they better understood. I was in charge of keeping them on track, calming them down, taking them for walks, giving them appropriate consequences when needed. My absolute favorite part of working with them, were the relationships I got to build with them. I got close with each of my students, and it felt so sweet that anytime they'd see me, they got happy/excited rather than annoyed/upset. The teachers were always able to tell how comfortable they were with me, especially from how open they were to me. They expressed their love in many different ways, and I'm so thankful I got to work with and build relationships with these kiddos so personally.

I have worked with kids for over 8 years whether on the side along with my full yime job or full time when I worked at the ymca. I love parking with kids. As someone who has worked in all kinds of fields from healthcare to retail and even factory work im not afraid of hard work. But the one thing that really makes my day is hearing the angelic giggle of a child "we can have fun and we can be safe while also encouraging the social and psychological health that is needed as we grow and develop." This is what I tell myself I do for your child everyday.
