The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part of being a nanny is the connection. As a social person, I thrive off of other’s stories and interests. Listening to these exciting moments makes my day. I want the same for nannying- I want to connect with those I am around to make sure we create a safe place that is also comforting, protected, and energetic!
My experience with special needs children...
I worked as a preschool music teacher for a few months. In that time, I had students who had special needs or a tough time learning due to learning disabilities, physical defiance, and inability to pay attention.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Recently, I was nannying a preschooler and he really wanted to play pool with me. I love pool, so I wanted to show him the ropes. After setting up the triangle and white ball, he exclaimed, "This is not how you play pool!" I explained, "This is how a regular game of pool is set up. Do you want to play the normal way or your way?" He thought for a second before replying, "My way!" For about 30 minutes we played his way, then he said, "Okay I'm ready now! Let's play a real game!" I was very impressed with how fast he learned the rules and had a fun time playing with him.
