A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Camille! I'm currently looking for a full-time position working in the city or very close to outside of the city.

I'm a nanny with 10+ years of experience, as well as a professional and certified doula with 2 years of experience. I have worked with children/families in many stages of development, from pre-birth to teenagehood.

I have experience with housework, meal prep, tutoring, transportation to/from school, speech development, nature appreciation, creativity/self-expression, and so much more that I would be happy to share with your special kiddo.

As for myself, I graduated from Guilford College(2020) with a BAS in Community and Justice Studies. Safe to say, I love to do impactful work. There's simply nothing more impactful and important than nurturing our future generations. I also played soccer at Guilford College, as well as my entire childhood.

I'm currently living in DC. Also important for you to know that I'm in a part-time Master's program at UMB.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Tutoring Myanmar immigrant children after school; volunteering with my childhood girl scout troop (weekly meetings); student teaching in a preschool connected to my high school (early childhood development course); working for College Nannies and Tutors agency where I nannied for 15 different families over an 8 mo span.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

...spending time in nature; reading loads of books + listening to them read; cheering them on while they play video games (they love this); coloring, painting, as well as finding odd materials to create art; teaching and learning about cooking/nutrition with them and of course, chasing them around (this makes us all L O L) to be extremely rewarding activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

about being reliable, fun, creative, honest, and consistent.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked for a family with a set of twins from when they were 7-10 years old (on and off). These boys had ADHD and autism. For them, this looked like regular hyperactivity, mild violent outbursts, regular screaming, and great difficulty with emotionally regulating.

My experience working with these children was joyous and extremely rewarding. As I learned about their needs, I began to realize that there was no changing who these boys were but only accepting and uplifting who they were. Over time I implemented many techniques to help with a smooth visit w/ the boys, including Camille will piggyback you to bed; who can scream loudest + the quiet game where we all giggled loudly; you can sleep with your safe toys and a variety of other creative and effective approaches.

The most important part about being a nanny...

well, there are way too many to count. I love when tiny babies smile at me because they remember me from the day before; I love when toddlers begin to read, their imagination grows and their worlds change forever; I love when tweens sit down and ask me a real question, or suddenly have a moment of adult consciousness, and of course, the many "ah ha" moments children have throughout their kiddy lives.

One memorable moment between a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old was when the 3-year-old said, out of her tiny lispy spit-filled mouth, "I love you so much because of the way you love me", to her older brother. I was warmed by the beauty and sincerity of her words.
