"Carey is reliable, dependable, creative, and caring. She arrived each day with a smile on her face and ended the day in the same manner. She provided fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities for our child. And was always open minded to anything we asked. We miss her dearly and would hire her back in a heartbeat!"

"Any family would be extremely lucky to have Carey Pearson as a caregiver for their children. She is one-of-a-kind, and we were very fortunate to have her care for our son and daughter for over four years, starting at the ages of 1 and 3.
Carey engages easily and naturally with children. She gets right down on their level and is an active playmate. She is great at telling stories, and loves to read and play games. She has a sweet and loving personality and is a great listener.
When it came to discipline she was good at carrying out the household rules that we had in place. We felt comfortable leaving Carey in charge overnight on several occasions. We always knew our children were well cared for and could tell what a great job she was doing from the strong connection she made with both our son and daughter.
It is without hesitation that we would recommend Carey as a babysitter. Any family that hires her would be blessed by the the care given to their children."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I taught voice lessons to children (and adults), and ran the children's opera chorus at my university for about 4 years. I also volunteered for many years at church and evangelistic meetings in caring for the children - mostly toddlers and teens.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities: Arts and crafts, science experiments, reading, imaginative play, baking, helping kids create their own stories and then helping them turn it into a book that they can keep.
Outdoor activities: Going to the park or for a walk, scavenger hunts, swimming, trips to the zoo or the aquarium or the children's museum or to the children's theater (depending on what is available in the city I'm living/working in).

The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is that you are working with little people during their formative years. They see and hear everything, and your presence in their lives will have an impact on who they become as an adult. You are, both through example and guidance, helping their characters develop. Their empathy. Their compassion. Their patience. Their kindness. Their pursuit of knowledge. Their passion for creativity, imagination, innovation. Their self-confidence. Their honesty. Their integrity. Being a nanny is not just showing up to work and keeping the kids alive. It is SO much more than that. You are helping them develop skills and personality traits that will shape who they become, and that will impact their lives for the rest of their lives.
My experience with special needs children...
While it was never confirmed while I was with them, I suspect one of my former nanny kids to be on the autism spectrum. His sensory issues were completely overwhelming for him, and he struggled socially - desperately wanting friends, but not knowing how to connect or relate to other children, and unable to guage for himself what behavior was socially acceptable and what wasn't. I took him to occupational therapy every week to try and help him work through some of the things he was dealing with, tried to help him navigate social situations and encourage friendships, and took him out for hot chocolate and one-on-one time to try and comfort him when he was dealing with rejection and all the emotions that came along with that.
His twin sister had vision problems. She had eye surgery at 2 years of age, and I took her to vision therapy every week and helped her do her exercises every at home.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I don't think I can choose one single favorite moment. There are too many! It might be when one of my nanny kids informed me that I was prettier than a slug. Or maybe the time I was baking with the twins while listening to music, and baking turned into a dance party. Or the complete awe on the faces of the kids when I took them to the children's theater to see Jack and the Beanstalk and they saw the giant walk out on stage, about 10 feet tall. Or the time I got sick while at work, and the 8 year old warmed up his favorite blanket in the dryer and brought it to me to make me feel better. Or the time I tried to rap in German and was informed by the 5 year old that I would never make friends that way. There so many more precious memories I have that make me laugh or smile or just completely melt my heart. I could never choose just one.
