The most important part to me is having clear communication with the parent. Of course I have my opinions on what helps children develop, but I also know that this is YOUR child and you know what is best for them. I want to communicate, teach, and discipline your child the way YOU want!
My experience with special needs children...
I have a niece and nephew with Autism. They are both nonverbal and ages 5 and 6. I also have a sweet cousin who is 11 with down syndrome. I have never nannied a child with special needs, but I am surrounded with it in my family. I love them and know the importance of having a trusted adult to help them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Every milestone. The first time they walk, go potty all by themselves, write the ABC'S etc. It seriously brings me to tears because I feel so lucky to see these precious souls learn about the world.
