A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Caroline, and I am 23 years old. I am enrolled at WGU to take classes in the fall for Early Childhood Development. I am the oldest sister of 6 kids, and I have over 6 years of formal experience watching & caring for children. I grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from BCHS in 2019.
For the past 4 years, I was a full-time prekindergarten teacher in Spokane, WA where encouraged learning through play, taught lessons & basic skills needed for kindergarten readiness, and communicated with parents. There I attended conscious discipline trainings, and I learned skills needed to teach and model self regulation for children as well as the necessary social and emotional skills for healthy childhood development.
I have always loved children, and I am so excited to get back to working with and caring for young learners in Bakersfield, CA!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started my journey into childcare when I was 16. I grew up in Bakersfield and was a part time nanny for 2 families (ages 8mo - 7 years). I continued nannying the following 3 years, and I then took a break when the pandemic started in 2020 to move to Spokane, WA. There I was a prekindergarten teacher at a local daycare teaching up to 10 children (ages 2-5 years old) at a time. I gained so much knowledge on lesson planning, overseeing safety, and providing a supportive environment which children are encouraged to learn, play, and grow!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing any kind of art project with the kids! We practiced yoga twice a week, as well as other age appropriate motor skill activities (indoor and outdoor). I love reading to and playing with the children, as I believe both those activities encourage learning in a fun and digestible way!

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience teaching children with various disabilities, including add/adhd, autism, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. In my previous position, I worked closely with the students’ counselors and the childrens’ parents to create better lesson plans and to manage a crisis whenever my students became overwhelmed.

The moment when you enter the family's home and your little one runs to you with excitement and hugs! Not only is it a rewarding feeling, but it validates your caregiving qualities to parents when they see how much their children are connected to you.
