Prior to becoming a nurse, I babysat for children in my area, then was a nanny for several years. My first nanny job was part time, caring for the child from 4 months until 18 months of age. My second nanny job was part time while I was in school and full time when I was able to work more hours. I cared for this child from 6 weeks until 16 months, before starting my career as a nurse.

I enjoy activities that encourage good brain development and working towards achieving milestones. I know that every child is different and my approach with each child is catered to their own needs, along with the parents wishes and priorities.

Clear communication and expectations with the parents! We are a team who are all working towards the same goal, so it is incredibly important to me to be able to have very open and honest communication on both ends.

I have cared for NICU infants as a nurse and a lactation consultant, so I am very comfortable around children with medical needs. I also have experience working with children on the autism spectrum and other children who communicate in different ways.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I was finishing nursing school, I was nannying for a precious little girl who was in the age range of so many milestones. Her parents both worked full-time, and when she rolled over for the first time, I was able to catch it on video and share it with her parents. I love being able to make parents feel able to be involved when I’m caring for their child and being able to have exciting moments together as their baby grows up.
