A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Care Ives and I live in the North Knox area! My husband and I have been here for 4 years now and have absolutely fallen in love with this city and its people. Throughout high school and college, I nannied when I wasn’t at school. Caring for my kids, helping them with homework and experiencing life through their eyes made my days at school so much brighter. I lifeguarded in the summers when I wasn’t nannying so up until 2018, I was fully CPR and Frist Aid certified through both Red Cross and the YMCA. My certs are no longer up to date (they are very expensive to maintain) but, as I’m sure you know, those skills never really leave you— especially when you’ve had to put them to use in real life. Because of my extensive work experience in schools, in pools and nannying, I have worked with a wide range of development levels as well as ages. I’ve loved every one of the kids I’ve worked with and would be so excited to have the honor of working with yours!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For close to 10 years, I was a lifeguard, swim instructor, coach and mentor for kid’s summer camps in Georgia and Florida.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I went to school for botany & chemistry and have always had a deep love for native plants in every area I’ve lived. Being outside with children blossoms that love even more as they explore and inquire about our natural world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Allowing children to exist in their humanness with minimal interference. While they will likely need redirection occasionally for safety reasons, children are autonomous, intelligent and kind in their own right. My job is to simply provide a loving, safe space for them to explore their uniqueness.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working with children on the spectrum and I myself am neurodivergent which lends a helping hand in relating to kids of all kinds. Where my experience ends, my empathy and love begins.
