More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In high school I took a class where I would go to a PPCD classroom every week along with going to an elementary or junior high class to help the teachers and students with daily tasks. PPCD was very hands on learning for me and going to the elementary and junior high schools was more of an observation type of situation, but both allowed me to care for children throughout their school day.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities include games that involve learning that the child actually enjoys, playing dress up, and reading stories. Outdoor activities include anything that keeps the child active, kicking a ball, throwing a ball, and playing tag.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure that the kid or kids are always happy and healthy, while also taking some stress or pressure away from the parents. Nannying is important because it gives the child a positive view of another person besides their parents that they can trust and be comfortable with as well. In addition, it helps to make certain situations easier and more efficient for the parents if a nanny is there.
My experience with special needs children...
This past summer I cared for a family with 3 kids and 2 of the children had special needs. A girl who was 5 and had down syndrome, autism, and an intellectual disorder and a boy who was also 5 who had down syndrome and autism. I absolutely love working with children with special needs and I always have. I am currently in the process of majoring in special education in order to become and life skills or special education teacher after graduation from college!
The most important part about being a nanny...
This past summer when I was nannying for a family, their 5 year old girl with multiple disabilities was almost completely inaudible. She would say some random words every now and then, but never relevant to anything going on in front of her. A few months after taking care of her I was on my way out to leave for the day and she said "bye Cassidy", which was pretty crazy for her to remember my name and say it. It was a very special moment for me because I didn't realize she had probably known my name for a while by then, which made me think of how much knowledge she probably had up there in her head, just without saying any of it.

Part-Time Nanny Available in San Marcos, TX: Ava F.
Hello, my name is Ava and I am originally from the DFW area of North Texas! I am currently attending school at Texas State University to become an Elementary Teacher. When I was a teenager I volunteered at my parents' church to babysit the congregations children, as part of the daycare system. I really enjoy interacting with children as they always seem to have a knack for seeing the world in a more creative light. I love all animals whether furry, feathered, or scaled and have previous short term and long term dog sitting experience, including puppies! It is my gift to leave a space cleaner and more organized than before whether it may be a deep clean or simply wiping down the counters. I look forward to meeting new faces and creating a warm and safe environment for all!
