The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is really getting to know the needs of those being cared for because every child is different. Every child needs different types support and love to feel seen, so it’s vital to take that into account and not just follow a standard bases on expectations rather than the reality and personality of the child

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children on the spectrum as well as those with ADHD and other behavior related circumstances

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment as a caregiver was whenever I volunteered at my church’s youth programming I was always paired with the “problem children” (which is terrible verbiage and extremely inappropriate language to use regarding children) and I formulated a great relationship with a little girl who had ADHD. She was super high energy so things like quiet time or reading weren’t really her speed and she continually received behavior complaints from the other staff before being paired with me during those activities. I got really creative and decided that she wasn’t someone who needed nap time like the other children in her age group and instead everyday we played an outdoor game that I made up that involved running, strategy, and imagination. She loved it! She loved feeling like she was a part of something exclusive and special for her and I and she was much more focused productive throughout the course of her days. It made me smile that her parents were so grateful and appreciative!
