More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 3 years of classroom experience as an AmeriCorps member at Southwestern HS and Shopville Elementary, 5 years as a childcare provider in my home and 1 year of daycare experience, in addition to 2 years of nanny experience. I also volunteered as a coach for the PCYFL Oak Hill cheerleaders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor: Singing songs, reading books, building with Legos, crafting, educational experiments and games, puzzles, board games, dancing.

Outdoor: Riding bikes, swinging, playing imaginitively, going for walks, creating scavenger hunts and treasure hunts, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating a loving atmosphere of respect that allows the child the security to explore and learn.

My experience with special needs children...

I have classroom experience with students with various needs including ADHD, autism, hearing impairments, and cognitive delays.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My 1 year old was having a hard time remembering me after a month long vacation the family took. When I began to read her some of her favorite books in the expressive manner I do, she began to feel more comfortable and climbed in my lap. But, the best moment was the look of recognition she had when I started singing the ABC song and doing the signs for each letter. She was so happy and began signing along ( at least, trying to).
