More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I currently work with children and youth ages 3-18 on an inpatient psychiatric unit at the Children's Hospital. Formerly, I worked with youth ages 8-22 at a community mental health center. However, my most recent nannying position was over a year for a young boy from the age of 4 months to 18 months. I have also volunteered with children at Hope In Our City and Family Tree in Denver, CO. Along with mentoring and tutoring children. I also served as a camp counselor for young children for multiple summers in Connecticut.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities I enjoy doing are reading, coloring, homework (if applicable), playing with toys, and other fun learning games. Outdoor activities I enjoy are walking or biking, gardening, and going to the park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing when nannying is safety and supporting the children. The children need to feel they are in a safe environment and with you, being their caregiver. I think it is also crucial to understand various family dynamics, and how the family operates, in order to best help the children adjust to you.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked directly with children with special needs on the Neuropsychiatric Special Care unit at the Children's Hospital. I feel confident tending to social, emotional, and behavioral dysregulation in children. I am willing to work with children who have emotional, mental, physical, or intellectual disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was after teaching a child to stand up for the first time, then watching him do it himself. I could see the pure joy and accomplishment he felt, which was shown on his face. This is truly a moment I cherish and will never forget!
