The most important part about being a nanny...
The first time I started caring for older kids I had a 13 year old girl get on the swing set and I asked if she’d like me to push her. She looked at me crazy and explained “I am 13 years old. I do not need you to push me” watching her become independent was heart fulfilling and breaking at the same time. Very similar to when I was nannying a 5 year old girl and I had taught her multiplication all the way up to 7. Seeing her learn and grow was my absolute most favorite thing.
